✔ I have a short story written somewhere on a missing man and a Charlie Parker portrait..  In a convo with my nephew the other day, he mentioned how schizophrenia is not only hearing voices but instead sometimes involving other senses, i.e. smelling things that are not there, sensations in the skin, etc. I told him I didn’t know, and conveyed that writing is a form of controlled, simulated or voluntary schizophrenia in the sense one triages storylines or ideas.      ◺

✔ In a summer day of 2002 I was walking to east on Chambers st. (downtown Manna-hata). Close to the eastern side of Church st. entered into what was then a “Korean” deli (never been there nor since). At the back of the store was this cop (Puerto Rican?) laying on the floor semi-conscious. No one else was around. He was so out of it (diabetic shock?), that if I wanted to I would’ve been able to take his gun, badge, and leave him naked. He had a phone in hand but could not even dial, so I told him: “let me call for you”, and took it from his hand. Reported it to 911 and waited outside the store. Paramedics soon came and took him out in a stretcher. I didn’t exchange words with them, just stood there watching from a close distance. Most people would’ve done something similar.     

In that area  (125 st. & Riverside Drive) is where years later, in 1974, the movie “Death Wish”, with Charles Bronson, was also shot. This I posted I believe, about a week before the chokehold death on May 1st 2023 of a homeless man, Jordan Neely (ex-Michael Jackson impersonator), inside a train by the Broadway-Lafayette St / Bleecker St station by an ex-Marine, Daniel Penny...
This, I also posted more than a week prior to June 1st 2023 in Queens, when Charles Foehner shot dead Cody Gonzalez, who attempted to mug him, with a pen.       ◺

0:10 “the Oxford mathematician is amazed that serious thinkers today continue to ask «them» to choose between God and science.”  Right off the bat he’s mistaken cuz no serious thinker is asking for such a thing. If he wants to believe in Zeus, Atum, Brahma, Waheguru, Odin, Hayyi Rabbi, etc, that’s his business, this ain’t about a reverse Inquisition.   0:44  Wrong, faith and intellectual rigor have not always co-existed harmoniously for centuries, even till this day !  Religion as an institution always imposed its version of truths by faith, prophecy, coercion.  1:35  "51% of scientists believe in some kind of deity citing a Pew Research poll..."  OK let’s say that’s correct, so if you have a slim majority of them believing so, where & how then does the “forced choosing” at 0:10   then come into play..?  Scientists making scientific progress didn’t achieve it through religion, faith, or prayer, but rather thru the scientific method ! There are people from all walks of life who either believe in a deity or deities and those who do not. That doesn’t determine their intelligence or morality. There are atheists with questionable politics (Sam Harris, Michael Shermer) and there are Christians with socialist politics (Martin Luther King Jr., Hugo Chávez), and vice versa.  Interesting that Western Europeans are more likely to identify as atheists than Americans... In North Korea, China, Japan, etc, that percentage is even higher for atheists…  The problem comes when theologians or religious fanatics come in pushing their beliefs or a supposed higher morality by means of their faith and into politics, education, science, without proof whatsoever. In the U.S., in a courtroom you’re made to pledge by a Bible… If you’re an open-atheist, there are political positions barred from you… Another incontrovertible fact is that whether you’re an atheist or not, “death” comes to us all.

3:03   “..the oxymoron of the Universe creating itself from nothing..”  What is he claiming really? That he knows all the complexities of the Universe from a podium? Assuming that God must be the answer (out of lack of facts as diseases long ago) does not then explain who then created that God or that it understands itself… Faith or death, can’t even explain what kind of God that would be, though it pretends. Does it know what it created? Does it care? Does it care about all life equally?  8:05  Why would a supposed all-powerful-knowing-confident God even care if puny humans believe in it?  Even if humans one day realize that a supreme being is just another “myth”, who can say that’s an insult or injury to such a being ?  Whether God or gods (whichever is its role) exists or not, we as humans have an obligation or choice to make our existence worth something. The not-believing guilt scheme seems to make sense only if religion or houses of worship are human created tools made to maintain a certain social class in power...  Nowadays the expectation or hope for an “afterlife” perhaps has been transfigured somewhat to retirement accounts, e.g. 401k’s, annuities, IRA, real estate, etc.    
 
 The fined-tuned Universe argument for God does not prove it exists, for many reasons. One is that it assumes the Universe was created for the sole purpose of life or consciousness !  When telescopes look out there, is it teeming with life?  Life probably could exist somewhat in other universes with different laws, another winning lottery with different numbers, so as the saying goes:  “there’s more than one way to skin a cat” !  8:17   The equating of God creating our universe with that of humans understanding it, is another leap in faith, not evidence for design or creation. That’s religion’s attempt to hijack scientific discovery for its own dogma ! Our understanding of nature keeps changing…  Some might say that time, entropy, or the Higgs boson, is the creator… Heresy in their view.     ⚗️

At best, that sort of discussion at universities is an exercise in rhetoric, or logic. It’s also worth noting John Lennox’s (this Oxford chap) debates with atheists as Richard Dawkins and Christopher Hitchens ...         ◺

 Whomever made or circulated this clip, might not be aware that the woman wanting 100% proof might not even be an atheist at all ! In Judaism, Jesus wasn’t the Messiah or even acknowledged at all... Muslims on the other hand do not believe Jesus died in the cross… An early Christian bishop, Saint Irenaeus, in his book around 180 AD, titled Against Heresies, Book I, Chapter 24, Section 40, writes :  “..He [Christ] appeared on earth as a man and performed miracles. Thus, he himself did not suffer. Rather, a certain Simon of Cyrene was compelled to carry his cross for him. It was he [Simon] who was ignorantly and erroneously crucified..”

But back to the preacher in the clip, he makes a logical fallacy claim, by equating a resurrection to that of a medical pill. Outrageous to think “zombies” and cures from medicine demand the same burden of proof ! Jesus Christ ! This type of Manichaeism by him harkens back to a polemical work ( De Carne Christi ) by another early Christian apologist against Gnosticism named Tertullian , by the phrase : prorsus credibile est, quia ineptum est (it is immediately credible – because it is silly).         ◺

In the 90’s onwards these waves increased due to structural adjustment programs (SAP’s) by the IMF & World Bank, free trade agreements (FTA’s) which displaced local farmers with cheaper subsidized imports, or fleeing the violence of narco gangs (fueled by U.S. consumption and the DEA’s involvement in regulating such black market..). Also human traffickers. Immigrants arriving in the U.S. or Europe then send money back as remittances. U.S. banks & other agents charge a fee + taxes. Apart from the receiving families, who benefits the most from the remittances? Well, the banks over there and the importers.. How so? Since U.S. & European companies’ imports are heavily subsidized, they are more competitive, therefore benefiting the importers in the global south... In order for these importers to purchase their wares they have to take out loans, so the banks profit from it. Those banks deposit the U.S. dollars in the U.S.. The conditions in the global south must in the first place be tough enough to “stimulate” immigration... Once in the North, the immigrants will work for lower wages & benefits. So it is a cycle in which rich western elites mostly benefit, while simultaneously presenting themselves as benefactors.. The increase in migrants coming into the U.S. is a point of contention in the sense many in the U.S. (mainly Republicans..) feel it’s a failure of “open borders”; without realizing or wanting to, that the vast majority of asylum-seekers are turned away at the border by U.S. immigration officials.. Something else to consider is the labor shortage in the U.S. specially after the COVID pandemic took the lives of over a million people here plus the lingering health side effects...      ◺

The Great Man-Made River (GMMR, النهر الصناعي العظيم) is a network of pipes that supplies fresh water obtained from the Nubian Sandstone Aquifer System fossil aquifer across Libya. Though essential for various bodily functions, excessive amounts of fatty acids in the body can be harmful, shortening a person’s health span and life span by increasing their risk of chronic disease, disrupting metabolic processes and promoting inflammation.   ..       .. For instance, when placed on a calorie-restricted diet, the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans lives about 40% longer. We found that the glycerol levels in the body of these long-lived worms were lower than in shorter-lived worms that were not food restricted. Calorie restriction also heightened the activity of an enzyme responsible for breaking down glycerol, ADH-1, in their intestine and muscles. We saw similar high ADH-1 activity levels in people undergoing dietary restriction or treated with an anti-aging drug called rapamycin. This finding suggests there may be a common mechanism underlying healthy aging across species, with ADH-1 at its core. We hypothesized that elevated ADH-1 activity promotes health in old age by decreasing harmful levels of glycerol. Supporting this hypothesis were two critical observations. First, we found that adding glycerol to the diet of worms shortened their life span by 30%. By contrast, animals genetically modified to boost levels of the glycerol-busting enzyme ADH-1 had low glycerol levels and remained lean and healthy with longer lives, even on unrestricted diets.  ..

Sííí, cómo no, el bloqueo siempre ha si’o interno, mas bien EXTERNO para afectar lo INTERNO, escribiría Lester D. Mallory tan temprano en abril de 1960... El bloqueo yanki contra Cuba vino mucho antes que la “ofensiva revolucionaria” de marzo 1968 en Cuba.. Y chequea, contrario a las empresas estatales en Cuba, las MiPyMEs en cambio hoy pueden darse el lujo de comprar en dólares un contenedor digamos de pollo o aceite. Por ese bloqueo “inexistente”, es que hay pocos países o bancos que le dan créditos al estado cubano.. A pesar de haber más entidades privadas en Cuba ahora y menos centralización, hay más desigualdad, inflación y migración… ¿A qué se debe? Bueno, varios factores. Leyes de bloqueo con Trump apretaron y están vigentes, afectando el turismo, etc. A escala global hay inflación por las sanciones ilegales de Occidente hacia Rusia en la guerra en Ucrania. Finalmente, las MiPyMEs se rigen por la "ley de oferta y demanda"…       ◺

El bloqueo de  🇺🇸  hacia  🇨🇺  no es unilateral, ni bilateral, es extraterritorial, ilegal, inmoral, por eso es rechazado cada año en la ONU, por ser una guerra económica y financiera.

Ejemplos :
 
•  La banca occidental (¿quién controla el sistema SWIFT ? ) le niega varios préstamos y servicios. Para fletes digamos de pollo o aceite no se puede a través de cartas de crédito, sino al contado, cash, y si es con   🇺🇸  se requieren licencias particulares. Ese bloqueo poca cosa le impide a la isla malvada utilizar el dólar USD en relaciones exteriores, implicando la necesidad de una compraventa en otra moneda donde la variación de tipo de cambio hace más costosa la operación. Ese bloqueito, “embargo”, “pretexto castrista”, prohíbe a bancos de terceros países que tengan cuentas en dólares a nombre de bancos o de nacionales cubanos…

•  Un transformador u otro aparato con patentes   🇺🇸  se le niegan a la isla, afectando la capacidad de generar y distribuir energía, con repercusiones en toda la economía, el transporte.
 
•  Si un barco desembarca en puerto cubano, no puede desembarcar en uno de  🇺🇸  por 6 meses, por lo tanto encarece y demora la transacción, seguros, riesgo, multas. Digamos, un carro japonés con tanto % de níquel cubano no puede venderse en  🇺🇸  o una de sus sucursales fuera. Un turista europeo vacacionando en Cuba ya no puede luego ir a   🇺🇸  sin solicitar una visa, o sea para herir el turismo.
 
•  Durante la pandemia COVID-19 el imperio del bien le negó oxígeno, ventiladores mecánicos, mascarillas, etc. Cuba no se cruzó de brazos y pudo fabricar varios de esos.
 
•  Los campeones del libre comercio prohíben que sus cruceros toquen orillas cubanas (ah pero sí se hace de la vista gorda cuando un barco o avión cubano secuestrado entra en U$A y son recibidos como héroes..). Con Obama se abrieron un poquito las relaciones, pero luego con Trump caplán !
 
•  En  🇺🇸   veo cervezas dominicanas, mejicanas, etc; pero una Bucanero, Cristal, Mayabe, Tínima, Cacique, todas cubanas, puro Cohiba, ni de juego se permiten.
 
•  Ya que estamos en las Olimpiadas, imaginen que a un boxeador le apliquen reglas exentas para los otros, ¿sería un evento parejo? Los medio$ hegemómicos e influencers se engranan culpando a la isla, es como si a una mujer la culparan por ser violada al usar una faldita y salir de noche y no al violador. De que Cuba ha cometido y seguirá cometiendo errores, claro que sí, pero el que esté libre de pecados que tire la primera piedra. Sería revelador un experimento social donde a cualquier país “en vía de desarrollo”, capitalista, se le impondría un bloqueo similar, para ver cómo se desenvolvería… Digo, ya que se supone todos los seres racionales respetamos la validez del empirismo.

El funcionario de   🇺🇸  Lester D. Mallory en abril de 1960 lo puso claro (memorando desclasificado en 1991) : “..deben adoptarse con prontitud todos los medios posibles para debilitar la vida económica de Cuba.. negar dinero y suministros a Cuba, para disminuir los salarios monetarios y reales, para provocar hambre, desesperación y derrocamiento del gobierno..”

Un sinfín de trabas. Afortunadamente, con el ascenso de los BRICS, el bloqueo, y hacia otros, se volverán más inefectivos. U$A viene usando el dólar como un arma, más allá del “privilegio exorbitante” acuñado en los 1960’s por Valéry Giscard d'Estaing. Razón por cual más países del BRICS van reduciendo su tenencia en tal moneda / divisa.

Una de las promesas de países del ya extinto CAME (Cuba miembro en 1972), fue compensar a los de menor desarrollo, para contrarrestar el desarrollo desigual e histórico del capitalismo, neoliberalismo, entre países.
 
¿Depende o no República Dominicana grandemente del turismo desde   🇺🇸   ?   ¿Depende o no de las remesas ? ( Guatemala eh es el segundo mayor receptor de remesas del hemisferio después de México. Importadores luego usan la divisa para comprar en el exterior)  ¿Es la RD competitiva o no debido a la mano de obra barata haitiana ?  ¿Podría desarrollarse (o cuánto le tomaría en crecer) si esos pisos desvanecieran de sus pies y tuviera que valerse de otra manera ?  Fuentes no ausentes, según la Organización Internacional del Trabajo (OIT), la fuerza laboral informal en América Latina en promedio ronda en 50%...
 
Tras la desaparición de la URSS, Ucrania se ha vuelto en el país más pobre de Europa…  A mi entender, ¿qué provocó el “desmerengamiento” del campo socialista ? En parte, la carrera militar con Occidente (saqueador del llamado Tercer Mundo), y en otra, una traición por un sector de la burocracia...  En marzo 1991 hubo un referéndum consultivo sobre la necesidad de mantener o no la unión en la URSS.. La participación fue mayor de 80%, y una MAYORÍA, el 77.8%, votó a favor de preservar la federación.. En la República de Ucrania fue aprobado por 81,7 % de los votantes, con una participación del 83,5 %. Se necesitaban reformas pero no desmantelarla, evento catastrófico que le vino pero qué muy bien a la elite en U$A con la fuga de capitales y nuevos mercados, aplazando su propia crisis y mediante guerras.. Motivo por la cual la expansión de la OTAN hacia el este con mira a China... El Estado de bienestar o la socialdemocracia en Europa occidental tuvo su “ raison d'être “ por la influencia de las conquistas sociales en el “socialismo real”, pero ya que la URSS no existe se vino desmantelando en Occidente... ¡No alcanza, basta ya de vagos ‘oño ! chillan monarcas, politiqueros y la comparsa. Los mismitos jueces “pragmatistas” que a pesar de Nicolás Maduro ganar unas elecciones constitucionales   🇻🇪  ,  lo atacan de ser matarife  🇨🇴  , demagogo, chofer, bruto, y castigan al país con bloqueos ; mas escupen pa’ arriba ayudando ayudando caramba viendo legítimo al comediante Zelenskyy aunque pasó de su término, prohibió elecciones, ah porque cheverémente subasta su país a BlackRock…

This is the American Business Standard: make the public sector pay for the privilege of hosting a business. It works in sports (taxpayers pay for stadiums, etc but can't afford a ticket to the game) and a multitude of other industries that receive public funding both directly and indirectly including in the example of this video, publicly paid worker training. Since Germany is alluded to as a prelude, let's look at the other half of the equation. The German state heavily subsidizes businesses but also collects corporate taxes that would be considered outrageous by American standards. Furthermore, German businesses are not permitted to simply pull up stakes and ships factories overseas, nor are they allowed to oppose unions. They are required to put employees first and business opportunities second. Overpaid executives are a rarity. Frankly, I am becoming sickened by the business and opportunity crowd demolishing all cooperative institutions on the altar of profit.

El maracucho (de Venezuela) Felipe Pirela, "el bolerista de América", canta "Quisqueya". Autoría del gran compositor puertorriqueño Rafael Hernández Marín. Pirela fue asesinado en Puerto Rico en 1972, tenía 30 años de edad. Diez días después del homicidio la Policía de San Juan capturó y responsabilizó del asesinato a Luis Rosado Medina, un mafioso con un extenso prontuario delictivo, quien aseguró que había matado a Pirela porque no le había pagado los estupefacientes que le había vendido a crédito; según declaró después: "Pirela me debía cinco mil dólares en cocaína, por eso decidí matarlo". Un mes después, Rosado Medina fue sentenciado a purgar 25 años de prisión, de los cuales solo cumplió 3 debido a buen comportamiento y al pago de una fianza por libertad condicional. El paradero del hombre que le quitó la vida a Pirela es hoy un misterio absoluto.

✔  Well, we’ll see what comes out of the House Oversight Committee today, 7-26-23.
The possibilities that jump out at me are the following:
1- If aliens indeed are visiting Earth, that will mean they are more advanced than us. In that case, if their visitations are still largely hidden from us, then it’s because they wish to keep it so and mostly all governments could be complicit.
2- If their trek was a one-shot deal, and they all perished, then that could explain why they are not making themselves known. In that case Earthly governments could be hiding their failed attempt or attempts.
3- If none of it is true, but all governments are ambivalent about it, especially the U.S.’s , then that would entail a cover-up of a different nature, i.e. a psyops, diversion from other issues, or justification to ramp up military expenditures.
4- If indeed it’s just a hoax, it doesn’t mean that aliens don’t exist somewhere. They could’ve visited Earth long ago, when there was no intelligent life, or none at all, or they haven’t reached us yet or found us. The possibility then exists that somewhere out there some planet civilization is aware that intelligence exists here, but they don’t have the technology to reach us at a reasonable time.
 
5- There’s also a possibility it could be a phenomenon of unknown origin such as the Hessdalen lights in Norway...
 
6- We as civilians must avoid being zealots, prey to wishful thinking (who wouldn’t want benevolent aliens to be here?). Let the evidence speak for itself. Just imagine in the U.S. Capitol riot on January 06, 2021, some yahoos, especially the horned one, the QAnon shaman (exotic by himself), screaming for Nancy Pelosi or Chuck Schumer: “C’mon, show me the aliens in the freezer bitch / a-hole!”      🤣
